When we returned to the USA in May 2010 I continued making jewelry pieces for myself and as gifts for family and friends. Soon their friends began to ask to see other pieces I'd made and I began to sell a few items here and there.
With a lot of encouragement from close friends, I entered my first Arts and Crafts fair in May 2014. That's all it took..., I was hopelessly hooked! I've always loved Arts and Crafts fairs and attend every chance get. This was the best of both worlds. Since then, I've participated in events on average of twice a month. To follow where I'll be next be sure to check the EVENTS tab on this website.
As things began to take off, I realized I needed to put some business organization in place to be legal and financially accountable. I called The Thomas Family Entrepreneurship Center at University of North Carolina - Pembroke NC. Soon I was working with them on marketing strategies, pricing structure, inventory control and so much more. I've attended seminars sponsored by Sandhills Community College and started networking with other crafters and small business owners. It's a lot of work but something I am enjoying immensely.
I am looking forward to the next few months as I continue working to get established, make new contacts and design and create new product lines. I can't wait the share them with you.
Thanks for your interest and support. As always, please feel free to leave your thoughts, ideas and suggestions. I value your input.
